Processing.js will take code written in Processing, essentially stripped-down Java, and draw to an HTML canvas object, essentially specifying pixels on a grid. D3, on the other hand, is written as pure Javascript and all of the manipulation is in terms of SVG objects, specifying lines and circles and so on.

     

I work on generative art / creative coding projects. I created lots of digital art projects and sketches with Processing and p5.js.
